# OpenQR

> Free, open-source, watermark-free QR code generator with a developer layer: a REST API and a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for creating QR codes, managing editable "dynamic" codes, and reading scan analytics. The browser generator is 100% client-side (QR content never touches a server) and needs no sign-up. The API and MCP server are free with a sign-up key.

## What OpenQR offers

- Free browser QR generator: PNG or WebP up to 4096px plus true-vector SVG and PDF, full styling (colours, gradients, dot & corner shapes, logo embedding, frames), no watermark, no sign-up. Payload types: URL, text, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, vCard, and map-based location.
- Dynamic QR codes: editable codes whose destination you can change after printing, with scan analytics (totals, countries, devices, referrers). Short links on oqr.to. The free plan includes 1 dynamic code; Pro is £9/month or £72/year.
- REST API: generate static QR images, save static multi-type codes (wifi, vCard, SMS, …) to your library, create/update/list/delete dynamic codes (incl. bulk up to 200 per request), read scan stats, manage folders and reusable style themes. Dynamic-code creation is limited to 300 codes per hour per key. OpenAPI spec published.
- MCP server: hosted, Streamable HTTP, 20 tools and 4 prompts, listed in the official Model Context Protocol registry. Lets AI agents generate and manage QR codes.
