Two kinds of code — both start free
The generator above makes static codes. Need to change where a printed code points, or count scans? That’s a dynamic code.
The code encodes your data directly. It works forever, doesn’t route through our servers, and needs no account. This is what most people need — and it’s always free.
One printed code whose destination you can edit any time, with built-in scan analytics and folders — for menus, campaigns and signage. Free covers your first 3 codes and 7 days of analytics; Pro lifts those for heavy use.
Sign up or sign in to make an editable dynamic QR code — it’s free.

Developer-friendly. Agent-friendly.
OpenQR isn’t just a generator — it’s an API. Drive it from your code, your no-code tools, or an AI assistant.
AI agents via MCP
Claude, Cursor, OpenClaw and other assistants create, edit and track QR codes through the Model Context Protocol — one hosted endpoint, thirteen tools, plain-English.
MCP guideREST API & SDK
A clean REST API for generation and dynamic-code management, a typed TypeScript SDK, and pre-built integrations for Zapier, n8n and Raycast.
Available for developers, automations & AI agents
The generator stays dead simple for everyday use — these are optional power-ups, and free too.
Free for everyday codes. Pro for dynamic scale.
Making QR codes is free forever — generator, exports, branding and the API, for everyone. Pro is only for heavy dynamic use: unlimited editable codes, full scan history and folders.

Questions, answered
OpenQR is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Read why it’s free or our privacy approach.
- Is OpenQR really free?
- Yes — the generator is completely free, with no watermark, no size limit and no sign-up, generated right in your browser. Editable dynamic codes, scan analytics and the API are free to use too; a low-cost Pro tier only lifts the limits for heavy users (unlimited dynamic codes and full analytics history).
- Do the QR codes have a watermark?
- Never. Unlike most online QR code generators, OpenQR never adds a watermark or logo to your codes, on any format or size.
- Do the QR codes expire?
- No. OpenQR creates static QR codes that encode your data directly. They work forever and don't route through our servers, so they can't be switched off or held hostage.
- Can I download a high-resolution or vector QR code for print?
- Yes. Export PNG or WebP up to 4096px, or true-vector SVG and PDF that scale to any size — perfect for business cards, posters and banners.
- Can I add my logo and brand colours?
- Yes. Add a logo, choose colours and gradients, change the dot and corner styles, and add a “Scan me” frame — all free.
- What if my QR code won't scan?
- Most scan failures come down to a handful of causes: the code is too small for the distance, low-contrast, missing its quiet-zone margin, or a setting on the phone. Our troubleshooting guide walks through every cause, with device-specific fixes for iPhone and Android. Read the troubleshooting guide.
- Is it private?
- Very. Your QR content is generated entirely in your browser and never uploaded. There are no accounts and no tracking of what you create.
